Champion Performa Series Spray Sprinkler Heads

This is a mid-range quality sprinkler. It is much better than the economy models aimed at the “price is everything” buyer, but doesn't offer any bells or whistles. The wiper seal is acceptable but could be better. It allows more blow-by than the top-rated spray sprinklers. This means that it is not a good choice for low pressure situations. The sprinkler has a good ratchet mechanism, although I would prefer that it be just a bit harder to turn in order to prevent accidental slipping out of alignment.

One model of this sprinkler comes with a brass top (cap.) The brass top helps protect it from damage caused my mowers and edgers. It also hurts more if you fall on it, so it might not be a good choice for areas where children play or for use in sports fields.

I consider any sprinkler with a pop-up height less than 3 inches unacceptable in most circumstances due to the increased maintenance necessary to trim grass away from the head. I would only use low pop-up heights for bubblers or shrub areas with widely-spaced shrubs and no ground cover.
