You're not alone! So here are some tips on dealing with the most common PayPal related problems.
Tips for getting PayPal to work
- Be patient, especially if you're using a dial-up modem Internet connection. PayPal can be really slow
at times. If a screen says "wait 5 seconds" try waiting for a minute or so.
- Unfortunately PayPal sometimes leaves you hanging... If you do not get a confirmation screen from PayPal
confirming your payment, check your email. If you don't see an email from PayPal confirming your payment within 15 minutes, the payment did not go through. Please try again. If, by chance, you should get double-billed, let me know. I've had a few people get double-billed, but this appears to be because they became impatient and ran a second payment within a minute or two of the first one. Please let me know if this happens and I will cancel the second payment.
- Try again later. This usually works. Try during non-peak Internet hours when tons of people aren't surfing.
- Make sure all the information you entered is correct. Name and address needs to exactly match those
on your credit card statements. Pull out a statement and check, sometimes the credit card company has a minor typo
in your address which you must duplicate on the PayPal form. Often I find I made a typo when my own on-line purchases
don't go through. I know how frustrating it is!
- Make sure the email address you use is correct, active, and your mail box is not full. Remember that
the Bonus Information I send you will also go to the email address you use for PayPal, and I can't change that,
so use a current email address!
- Is your card a debit card rather than a true credit card? Anything other than a credit card payment
takes longer because you will need to open a PayPal account, confirm it, transfer money into it, and then send
the payment. That's a lot more work!
